A basic copy edit is standard editing for a relatively clean book. This editing focuses primarily on spelling, grammar, and basic errors. It is more in-depth than proofreading, but less intensive than developmental editing.

Content Editing Services
Manuscript Critique
$8 per 1,000 words - $50 minimum payment
Instead of using in-text notes and edits, this basic content edit provides the author with an evaluation of their story's big picture. The focus is on story elements: story and character development, plot structure, genre tropes, writing style, pacing, readability, and consistency throughout the book and series, which are analyzed in concise and orderly notes.
What to expect:
- One editing pass
- 5-to-15-page editorial letter
- Evaluation of plot structure and/or outline
- Critique of story and series arc
- Analysis of story continuity and flow, style and pacing, and genre tropes and themes
Developmental Editing
$15 per 1,000 words - $75 minimum pagyment
Intensive and vigorous, content editing is all about the big picture. The focus remains on the important story elements: story and character development, plot structure, genre tropes, writing style, pacing, readability, tension, and consistency throughout the book (and series). This edit does not, however, address grammar, spelling, punctuation, or formatting.
What to expect:
- Two editing passes
- In-text notations
- Evaluation of plot structure and/or outline
- Critique of story and series arc
- Analysis of story continuity and flow, style and pacing, and genre tropes and themes
Editorial Letter (add-on)
$100 flat fee
Sometimes, even when you want a full Content Edit, you want the Editorial Letter too. We will work with you to put together an in-depth Editorial Letter as an addition to your Content Edit.
This add-on can ONLY be applied to a Developmental Edit.
What to expect:
- No additional editing passes
- 5-to-15-page editorial letter
- Evaluation of plot structure and/or outline
- Critique of story and series arc
- Analysis of story continuity and flow, style and pacing, and genre tropes and themes
Brainstorming Session
$75 for one hour - $125 for two hours
Are you struggling with your current plot? Do you need help figuring out what isn't working? Are you developing the sequel to a book we worked on?
Let's get together for a Brainstorming Session! We'll set up a time to talk about your story, characters, plot, and structure.
What to expect:
- A 1- or 2-hour meeting via Discord or Zoom
- Discussion topics can include anything related to your book: character development, story structure, world-building, genre tropes, themes, writing style, etc.
- Notes from our discussion
